STAFF PHARMACIST

Union Hospital of Cecil County is looking for a Staff Pharmacist who will fill orders for drugs, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information.
- Staff pharmacists supervise and direct! supportive personnel.
- In the absence of the pharmacy manager, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the pharmacy manager.
- Complies with all state and federal regulations and Hospital policies and procedures relating to drug dispensing, including appropriate handling of drug products, adherence to security procedures, and completion of necessary documentation. This includes appropriate control and dispensing of controlled dangerous substances and investigational drugs.
- Reviews and dispenses medication orders and clarifies any and all potential problems with orders.
- Monitors patient drug therapy regimens for allergies, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, appropriate dosing, and potential adverse reactions.
- Prepares admixtures using aseptic technique (e.g., IV solutions, TPN, chemotherapy).
- Performs assigned unit inspections to assure proper mainte! nance and storage of medication supplies, including emergency ! drug supplies.
- Oversees activities of ancillary personnel (Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant/Couriers).
- Employs principles of safe medication practice as dictated by departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
Education: Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree.
Licenses: Currently licensed to practice pharmacy in Maryland.
Work Schedule : Various day and evening shifts to include weekends and some holidays.
