Description: Kaiser Permanente is at present recruited PGY1 Maryland Pharmacy Resident, Full-Time, Kensington ( Job Number: 179016 ) right now, this position will be reside in Maryland. The PGYI Residency provides the opportunity and guidance necessary for the resid! ent to acquire intensive training, knowledge, and educational experiences as a clinical pharmacist in a managed care organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to Kaiser Permanente members in medication management programs, primary care clinical pharmacy services or other clinical services or activities in the managed care setting.
  • Prepares and presents comprehensive drug reviews as assigned for regional Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings
  • Assists in implementation of region wide drug use management programs.
  • Develops and analyzes physician utilization reports to assure appropriate use of medications and identify areas of opportunity for improved medication use within the managed care system and with individual providers.
  • Provides monthly student orientation sessions for pharmacy students.
  • Conducts ongoing educational sessions for members on chronic medicati! on therapy; prepares and conducts continuing education program! s for pharmacy staff and other health care providers.
  • Assists in the research and preparation for the bi-monthly regional pharmacy newsletter.
  • Provides drug information to staff and providers.
  • Conducts projects as assigned throughout the residency year.
  • Participates in national and regional residency showcases and conferences.
  • Assists in the recruitment of new residents.
  • Performs the general dispensing and counseling duties of a pharmacist.
  • Performs projects or duties as assigned throughout the residency year.
  • Assures compliance to all regulatory rules and regulations and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures and professional practice standards which include but are not limited to:
  • Drug Enforcement Administration
  • State Boards of Pharmacy
  • HIPAA
  • Principles of Responsibility
  • Proper use of Kaiser Permanente personal computers and applications
Qua! lifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Pharm. D degree from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Licensed in the applicable jurisdiction required, i.e., State of Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia as a registered pharmacist.
