The successful candidate will be an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated pharmacokineticist with experience conducting collaborative and independent applied research on drugs used in clinical studies supporting several Institutes of the NIH. The pharmacokineticist must demonstrate a mastery of the application of pharmacokinetic principles to optimize and individualize drug dosage in clinical research studies. The candidate must understand research methodologies, protocol design, and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of analytical methods used to characterize the pharmacokinetic parameters by Mass Spec, and HPLC. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a mastery of data analysis approaches including pharmacokinetic modeling software. A Doctor of P! harmacy degree, post-graduate year 1 and year 2 residency trai! ning, and research fellowship are highly desired for this position. KEY REQUIREMENTS

This position may include shift and weekend work. DUTIES:
As the Pharmacist (Pharmacokinetics) in the Pharmacy Department for Clinical Center (CC) your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
 Understands the physiological variables that play a role in drug pharmacokinetics
 Performs assignments that have a significant impact on biomedical research programs and therapeutics
 Advises, interfaces, and participates in the design of complex drug treatment plans as well as in the design of trials characterizing the pharmacokinetics of diverse pharmacologic agents
 Participates in medical rounds to better understand the pati! ent population related to pharmacokinetic drug studies
 Evaluates complex drug literature in order to design pharmacokinetic clinical trials
 Provides direction and supervision to students, residents, and fellows in clinical pharmacokinetic research
 Designs and conducts research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals
 Actively collaborates with NIH clinical researchers in the design and implementation of research protocols, collection of data, and the interpretation of results
 Serves on one of the NIH Institutional Review Boards
 Acts as an expert pharmacokinetic resource
 Reviews, directs, and analyzes research data generated by selection of appropriate pharmacokinetic principles to adequately describe absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs
 Determines adequate mathematical or empiric models that describe the data to understand predictive capabilities of the model in order that knowledge gai! ned can be utilized in designing better and more rational drug dosage r! egimens. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education: Four-year Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education;or Successfully completed a 5-year Course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in pharmacy from an approved pharmacy school; or Successfully Completed a 6-year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) degree.

Licensure: All applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Additionally, in order to qualify at the GS-13 level; you should have (1) successfully completed a 6-year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree OR, (2) demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Government.
