This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Translational Sciences (OTS), Office of Clinical Pharmacology (OCP), Silver Spring, MD.

The incumbent will serve as as the Deputy Director, Division of Pharmacometrics planning, managing, organizing, and directing all the regulatory review operations, program segment(s), functions, and activities of the Division as carried out by subordinate team leaders and a highly trained and skilled staff (scientific, engineering, medical, science, and/or veterinary medical officer) of professionals organized into either formal or informal subordiante organizations responsible for the regulatory review mission of the Division. Responsible for the science and administration! function of the Division and ensure that reviewers provide quality review and consultation to customers within estabished timeframes. Evaluates budget, fiscal, and administrative controls to manage Division program segments and services. Plays a key leadership role in critical industry meeting, identifies issues related to clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmaceutic, and collaborates with the pharmacometrics group and other disciplines to ensure that key questions and drug development issues are addressed. Leads the preparation, clearance, and finalization of Division responses to inquiries covering all aspects of the programs, functions, and activities of the Division. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Basic Qualification Requirements for Pharmacologist, GS-0405:
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university an appropriate biological, medical, veterinary, or physical science, or in pharmacy that included at least 30 s! emester hours in chemistry and physiology and 12 semester hours in phar! macology.. Courses in chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, general physiology, and animal, human, microbial, or cellular physiology may be used to meet the 30-semester hour requirement in chemistry and physiology. Courses in pharmacology, pharmacodynamics, pharmacotherapeutic, molecular pharmacology, and other similar subjects may be used to meet the 12-semester hour requirement in pharmacology. Courses dealing intensively with pharmacologically-oriented subjects may also be used to meet this requirement.

Basic Qualification Requirements for Pharmacist GS-0660:
Applicants must have a four-year bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. Except for research positions that do not entail patient care, all applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia AND one year of professiona! l pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

AND

Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Basic Qualification Requirements for Chemist, GS-1320:
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in the physical science, life sciences, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

OR

Have a combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major that included courses as shown Â"AÂ" above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Additional Qualification Requirements for the 0405/Pharmacologist, 0660/Ph! armacist, 1320/Chemist-15:

Have one year of specialized experie! nce equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, to include experience in planning, managing, organizing and directing a scientific regulatory review operations, as it relates to evaluating, approving/disapproving drug applications for new drug development.

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
