The successful supervisory (Section Chief) candidate must be an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable and motivated leader with extensive experience primarily in a hospital setting to direct the Ambulatory Care Section of the Pharmacy Department. This Section of the Pharmacy provides high-quality pharmaceutical care emphasizing rational, cost-effective clinical and dispensing services in support of the clinical research of the various Institutes of the NIH. We strive to exceed the expectations of patients,investigators, and coworkers in an environment that provides the pharmacy staff with motivation, challenge, and professional growth.

The ideal Section Chief candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the regulatory requirements of the position including Joint Commission standards as well as FDA regulations governing investigational drug a! ccountability. The candidate must demonstrate previous supervi! sory experience and the use of dispensing robotics and bar code technology. Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency and board certification in pharmacotherapy is desirable, but not required. KEY REQUIREMENTS

As the Supervisory Pharmacist in the Outpatient Pharmaceutical Care section of the Pharmacy Department, Clinical Center; your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Supervise the work of the pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, as well as pharmacy residents to include completing mid-term and annual performance reviews;
Participate ! in weekly administrative leadership meetings advising the chief on the direction of the Ambulatory Care Section;
Serve as authoritative medication consultant with direct interaction and communication with patients to obtain complete drug histories; monitor patients' response to drug therapy;
Educate/counsel patients regarding drug therapy;
Explain information about current drug therapy and its potential effects;
Advise hospital planning committees in the programming and conduct of research studies on drugs;
Provide pertinent drug information on the subject under study, and advise on the implication of the drugs and medications involved;
Comply with all FDA mandated REMS programs;
Design and conduct interdisciplinary educational programs in the area of drug therapy for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals;
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Basic Requirements:
Education: Four-! year bachelor's degree in pharmacy recognized by the American Council o! n Pharmaceutical Education; OR successfully completed a 5-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in pharmacy from an approved pharmacy school; OR successfully completed a 6-year course of study leading to a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.

Licensure: Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

In addition to the basic requirements , you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing leadership and guidance on a wide range of pharmacy program operational concepts, principles, and practices to physicians, medical students and residents, and fellow pharmacists and technicians; providing patient care regarding drug therapy and comprehensive consultant services to other! health professionals providing patient care; conducting drug utilization review and implementing drug surveillance methodologies and strategies; participating in shaping pharmacy policies and procedures by making recommendations for revision or improvements; serving as an authoritative consultant on the latest developments concerning therapeutic and diagnostic agents under clinical evaluation and investigation; and advising hospital planning committees on the programming and conduct of research studies on drugs.
