Assists the pharmacist in the dispensing of medications by selecting the medication from stock, as noted on med-label and match to physician order. Delivers medications and purchasing/central supp! lies on interim medication cart to nursing units on an hourly schedule. Delivers the 24-hour exchange cart to nursing units at 7 a.m. Prepares I.V.
solutions which involve assembling of "piggy-back" and pre-mixed large volume parenteral solutions. Enter medication charges in to computer system through the use of computer keyboard. As Pharmacy Technician II, this position is also responsible for daily and weekly purchases for the Pharmacy and other assigned areas, including performing inventory on regular basis, put orders away, and check prices. This position also reviews and approves invoices and attends regular pharmacy buyer meetings.
Also will have responsibility for monitoring drug recalls, shortages and expirations. The Pharmacy Tech II will assist with overseeing Technicians, including determining assignments, schedules and serving as resource. Must be able to read and comprehend a wide variety of drug names and related medical terminology. Must be ! able to enter basic charges and names via computer keyboard.
Incumbent must have the ability to transport medication carts to nursing floors. PTCB certification and Maryland certification is required. Minimum 3 yrs as Pharmacy Technician in hospital setting; previous experience is preferred.
