The role of the Pharmacy Informatics Specialist is to provide technology support for computer software and other systems that support the delivery of pharmaceutical care to Mercy patients. The population served by this position consists of inpatients and outpatients, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. In addition, this individual, in collaboration with Pharmacy leadership and the Technology Development Pharmacist, is responsible for exploring and developing technology opportunities to advance the practice of Pharmacy and enhance patient safety.
- Must possess: HIgh School Diploma or GED, College-level courses in computer science, human resource management or psychology would be considered advantageous.
- At least one year of previous experience with hospital pharmacy computer systems, as well as financial/regulatory issues impacting healthcare in Maryland, and professional standards of Pharmacy practice.
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially with regard to computer data entry.
- Must possess skills in:
- Written and oral communication skills, as well as project management assistance.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
