Job Details:
Under general supervision, records medication orders, dispenses medications and specialty products in accordance with Hospital and departmental policy and regulatory requirements. Oversees support staff, and provides drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other team members. Documents patient specific drug therapies and outcomes of drug therapy recommendations. Provides drug information and promotes pharmaceutical care through rational, cost-effective drug therapy. Identifies and documents drug utilization to facilitate effective formulary control and adequate stock levels. Inspects assigned location where drugs may be stored to ensure proper storage, handling, and record keeping. Routinely reviews medication profiles for detection of allergies, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and drug-related problems. Reviews, interprets, and records physician orders. Provides direct supervision of all non-licensed Pharmacy Operations personnel (technicians, couriers, volunteers).
Requirements: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Registered Pharmacist in Maryland Professional membership recommended: AphA, ASHP, MSHP, ASCP, etc.
