  • All Candidate shall meet the qualifications for that specialty and perform essentially the same
functions, within the scope of their technical! professional discipline and standard, as those required by
Army or Government service technical professionals of similar experience and in similar duty
assignments. The Candidate practices/productivity will be compared to that of other
Candidate assigned the same facility.
  • Education: The employee shall possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Certification: The employee shall possess and maintain current certification for Pharmacy
Technician in at least one state or territory in the United States, certification (with no limitations,
stipulations , or pending adverse actions) to practice as a Pharmacy Technician in accordance with (IAW)
the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
  • Experience: The employee shall have a minimum equivalent of 16 hours per week work
experience as a Pharmacy Technician within the last year.
  • The employee shall be able to read, write, speak and understand Englis! h well enough to
effectively communicate with all p! atients and other HCPs.
  • The employee shall have transcript verifying Pharmacy Technician education provided with
resume .
  • The employee shall demonstrate ability in the areas of interpersonal relations, problem
solving , and conflict resolution.
  • The employee shall report to work rested, physically and mentally capable of performing the
duties required under this The .
  • SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CANDIDATE SHALL PERFORM:
The Pharmacy Technicians shall perform the following procedures at the KACC, Fort Meade, MD, as
required and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF to include the

following :
  • The employee shall possess a working knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, common
drugs , medication dosage forms, storage and security requirements for drugs, and the operation of common
pharmacy equipment.!
  • The employee shall possess extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals to include therapeutics,
dosage , nomenclature, side effects, interactions and incompatibilities. Must be intimately familiar with all
aspects of the Outpatient and Inpatient Drug Distribution System.
  • The employee shall receive and interpret outpatient prescriptions or inpatient medication
orders . Assist pharmacist in selecting and preparing medications.C.2.4. The employee shall maintain necessary prescription files and other records in accordance with
applicable regulations and SOPs.
  • The employee shall maintain thorough familiarity with MTF therapeutic formulary, dispensing
policies , and requirements for eligibility for care.
  • The employee shall be accountable for all controlled substances dispensed to the single tablet,
capsule , or similar unit.
  • The employee shall provide drug information ! to other HCPs and patients when requested.
  • The employee shall ! display a helpful, courteous manner to patients, explaining options, and
recommending solutions based on facts.
  • The employee shall utilize the Composite Health Care System (CHCS). The Government will
provide training in the use of this system and any other Automated Dispensable System (ADP) system
implemented by the US Army.
  • The employee shall have sufficient skills to complete all required paperwork, utilize
paraprofessionals as appropriate, and perform documentation and patient care in accordance with Joint
Commission (JC) guidelines.
  • The employee shall assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to
ensure sustainment of normal clinic operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but
not limited to, performing clinic and ward inspections, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring
enforcement of clinic SOPs and standar! ds, conducting monthly peer reviews, and attending staff meetings.
  • The employee shall be knowledgeable of Quality Improvement responsibilities, which include
upholding established patient care and practice standards, reviewing and submitting reports as required, and participating in all mandatory training .
