As the Deputy Division Director of the Division of Medication Error Prevention and Analysis within the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology, you will participate in the planning, managing, organizing, and directing of all the post-marketing operations/functions and activities of the Division that are normally carried out by subordinate supervisors/team leaders and a highly trained and diverse staff of medical professionals.

Occasional travel required DUTIES:
- Assists the Director in providing leadership, direction, planning, budgeting, management and supervision of the divisionÂ's programs and staff;
- Coordinates all of the divisionÂ's post-marketing studies and clinical trials including the development of proposed plans, monitoring of amendments, sponsor status reports, evaluating plans, and designing studies.
- Provides oversight of the divisionÂ's programs, including reviews and analyses of adverse event reporting.
- Assists the Director in overseeing the Divisions review protocol pr! ocess to effectively manage drug safety data gathered from actual use, simulated use, label comprehension, and selection studies for prescription drug products.
- Provides authoritative advice and assessment of proposed legislative actions on program functions and activities.
- Represents the Office in meetings with external stakeholders, including patient and consumer groups, academic groups, academic collaborators, contractors, other Federal agencies, Congress, international regulatory bodies, and the media. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC REQUIREMENT : You must meet either the 601 or 660 education requirements.
A. General Health Science, 601: Possess four year degree in a major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (! You must submit your transcript at time of application submission);
OR
B. Pharmacist, 660: Possess a four year bachelor's degree in pharmacy recognized by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education; AND have a license to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia; AND able to distinguish among basic colors. (You must submit a copy of your pharmacy degree and a copy of your license at time of application)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : All applicants must meet the specialized experience requirement.
Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service that included leading projects involved in post marketing drug safety surveillance activities; providing technical medical expertise and consultative services on post market drug safety issues; supervising a professional staff of medical and scientific personnel; and representing an Agency in meetings with external groups (i.e. Congress, industry rep! resentatives, media, international regulatory bodies) on post marketing drug safety issues.
You must submit an official transcript, unofficial transcript, or a list including courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. Degree requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this job announcement and your transcript(s) submitted must reflect this.
