Under general direction of the Director of Specialty Operations, manages the daily pharmacy operations and staff, including interpreting physicians' prescriptions and compounds, dispensing medications within regulatory guidelines, consulting with customers regarding use of medications and potential drug interactions, and handling complex problem resolution. Includes budgetary responsibility for a pharmacy with revenues exceeding $350 Million and total operating expenses in excess of $20 Million.
This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is as! signed specific responsibility for ensuring continual and prop! er compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements as well as maintaining multi-state licensure.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the procurement and dispensing of patient medications; verifies prescribed medications according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
Maintains compliance with all applicable ACHC Standards.
Maintains all Pharmacy Operational Policies and Procedures.
Consults with patients regarding medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, specialized requirements and possible drug interactions.
Works closely with patient in order to answer all questions and/or concerns regarding their prescriptions.
Reviews and evaluates patient's plan of care for obvious conflicts.
Manages all associate relations functions for the staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians such as hiring, terminating and performance m! anagement.
Monitors the overall performance of staff members to ensure compliance with policies, practices and approved pharmaceutical dispensing processes.
Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, compliance to regulatory and accrediting bodies, and record keeping.
Makes recommendations to Director of Specialty Operations regarding any changes to operating procedures in an effort to facilitate smooth customer service and operational efficiency.
Performs prescription verification of unit dose orders, order entry and verification of IV admixtures, providing technical guidance to staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians.
Responds to customer inquiries, requests and issues when situations get escalated to a higher level of authority.
Provides consulting on pharmaceutical matters to various levels of personnel regarding pharmacy operations.
Reviews daily reporting and scheduling of hours worked for the staff pharmacist(s) an! d pharmacy technicians.
Supervises activities relative to customer ! files and contacts, ensuring that they are updated as needed to comply with current licensing.
Leads department meetings and in-service training for staff pharmacist(s) and pharmacy technicians.
Performs related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires two (2) to four (4) years directly related and progressively responsible experience, including at least one (1) year in a management role; a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy/RPh License required, Doctorate preferred. Previous Home Infusion, Specialty Infusion Pharmacy experience required.

Must have a general knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and automated dispensing solutions
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
