Certified pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining t! he drug inventory and maintenance of records.
Essential Job Functions:
- Certified pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.
- Create and update patient’s health and insurance information in the computer for outpatient prescriptions
- Enter prescription orders into the computer for Outpatient operation
- Complete weekly distribution center medication orders, place orders on shelves, and verify all associated paperwork;
- Assist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions;
- Prepare the pharmacy inventory;
- Compound oral solutions, ointments, and creams;
- Prepackage bulk medications;
- Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into practice;
- Maintain ! knowledge of loss prevention techniques;
- All pertinen! t Pyxis operations
- Unit and Pyxis monthly inspections and reports
- Quick Charge Operation (OTC)
- Crash Cart replacement
- IV preparation
- All other duties as assigned
Licenses: Current Pharmacy Technician certification. Maryland Pharmacy Tech License
Experience: Preferred at least 2 years as a hospital pharmacy technician
