The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is a unique rare illness association that works with patients, family members and medical professionals to advance education and awareness of pulmonary hypertension, with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. We are seeking a Program Associate to work within our Medical Services Department.

The Medical Services Department manages PHA’s two medical membership programs, PH Clinicians and Researchers (for PH-treating physicians and PhD-level researchers) and PH Professional Network (for nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists and other allied health professionals). The department also manages a research program, supports the production of a quarterly medical journal, helps with the planning of PHA’s medical and scientific meetings, and participates in conferences of external partners.

The primary function of the Program Associate position is to support and advance the PH Clinicians and Researchers (PHCR) medical membership network. The Program Associate is responsible for promoting membership and supporting the development of an array of resources and services for clinicians and researchers in the field of pulmonary hypertension. The associate is responsible for responding to the needs of the medical community and engaging providers in the activities of PHA.

Principle duties and responsibilities

Work with PHA’s medical leadership to develop goals for and carry out activities of PHCR

Promote and maintain membership in PHCR

Produce and enhance educational and professional development materials, including the monthly PH Roundup Newsletter

Assist in managing the grants within the PHA Research Program

Serve as the primary contact for the Building Medical Education in PH partnership program

Manage internal distribution, promotion of PHA activities and other logistical aspects of PHA’s quarterly medical journal, Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension

Manage and expand outreach and services available to professionals in international communities

Manage and enhance electronic communication including the PHCR listserv and the Find a Doctor directory

Assist in planning PHA meetings and conferences, including PHA’s International Conference and the PH Professional Network Symposium

Coordinate PHA’s participation at various medical conferences throughout the country

Qualifications

Minimum knowledge, skills, experience and education:
Bachelor’s degree

Strong interpersonal skills

Solid written and oral communication skills

Comfort communicating with medical professionals

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Data management skills

Ability to multitask

Experience working with committees preferred

Health or scientific background preferred, but not required
