The Staff Pharmacist interprets ! prescriptions and compounds and dispenses medications ordered by physicians or other authorized prescribers. The staff pharmacist provides patient consultation to customers on the therapeutic values, contents and use of medications and related devices. The staff pharmacist also completes other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager. The staff pharmacist works under moderate supervision with appropriate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The staff pharmacist reports to the Pharmacy Manager. In the event the Pharmacy Manager is not available, the staff pharmacist may act as the pharmacist in charge. This must be approved by the Pharmacy Manager or the Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Maintenance of CEUs for biannual renewal of pharmacist license
Knowledge: Ability to interpret prescriptions, compound prescriptions and dispensing medications in an a! mbulatory pharmacy setting Knowledge of pharmacological princi! ples and procedures Knowledge of state/federal laws and regulations Knowledge of retail operations and system Knowledge of organization policies and procedure
Skills: Able to operate pharmaceutical equipment Ability to counsel customers Ability to accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications Ability to evaluate drug therapies Ability to maintain pharmacy records according to current laws and regulations Ability to develop working relationships with customer and health professionals
Required Licensure, certification, etc .: Licensed to practice in the state of Maryland
Machines, Tools and Equipment : Able to operate equipment and tools as it relates to pharmacy and drug delivery systems.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs routine pharmaceutical duties, which involve compounding, counseling and dispensing drugs.
Interprets and dispenses medication orders and prescriptions.
Dispenses medi! cations to ambulatory care, clinic outpatients and/or community-based customers.
Maintains patient profiles and monitors drug therapies for contraindications, interactions, allergies and appropriate use.
Provides drug information services to health care term members and counsels customers on safe and effective use of medications.
Performs related work as assigned.
Maintains inventory controls and parameters.
Controls daily operations of the pharmacy.
Ensures pharmacy is in good standing with all industry regulations and practices.
