This position is located in the Pharmacy Department, Naval Medical Clinic, Patuxent River, MD. The Incumbent of this position will be required to preform technical pharmaceutical work in any of the specialty areas located in the pharmacy. KEY REQUIREMENTS

This position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP). DUTIES:
- Interprets ! prescriptions and doctorÂ's orders to correctly input, fill, a! nd dispense prescriptions within the parameters established by the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures.
- Answers routine questions concerning proper administration and use of medications and conveys necessary information to the patient to ensure correct use.
- Reviews and prepares orders for intravenous additive solutions; utilizing sterile technique and maintaining infection control procedures by reviewing the patientÂ's medication profile.
- Enters new prescribed drug orders; assembling the necessary ingredients; prepares labels and labeling the complete product.
- Receives prescriptions , screens for necessary information and fills over-the -counter medications.
- Assists in maintaining adequate levels of medication and supplies; ensures that all supplies are properly stored; advise personnel of any shortages of medications or supplies, properly rotating medication items on shelves, removing items from shelves if evidence of tamperi! ng, breakage, deterioration, or expiration.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills! , and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Sp! ecialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience interpreting prescriptions and doctor's orders and correctly input, fill, and dispense medication prescriptions.
Experience filling prescriptions/orders for controlled substances; maintaining accurate records and documents to reflect the issuance and receipt of the controlled substance and report to supervising pharmacist any unusual request.
Experience repackaging bulk medications into smaller containers of predetermined size of unit does packaging; ensures medication and supplies are properly stored; check date of medication and rotating items on shelves to check for breakage, tampering, and deterioration.
QUALITY RANKING FACTOR: This position has a Quality Ranking Factor (QRF). This is a quality ranking factor that could be expected to enhance significantly the performance of the applicant in the position. The actual QRF is Certified Pharmacy Technician . You do not! have to possess the factor in order to be rated eligible; however, applicants possessing the factor will receive additional points. Possession of the factor must be verifiable by submitting a copy of your Pharmacy Technician Certification with you application.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

EDUCATION:
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE : Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilit! ies necessary to do the work of the position: Successful completion of ! a full 4 year course of study leading to a bachelorÂ's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in pharmacy, or that included at least 24 semester hours in pharmacy- related courses.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
